International Project for 2024
After careful consideration, the Board of Discovery Service Projects has decided to sponsor an international trip to once more partner with the LAMB Institute, based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. For more information about the organization, see their website: lambinstitute.org.
January 2-9, and January 9-16, 2024
Discovery Service Projects worked at LAMB's children’s village in the hills outside of Tegucigalpa multiple times. They worked on buildings needing maintenance. The children will not be in school while we are there – so activities could be planned!
DSP volunteers stayed in the LAMB guest house on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa. Each day we travelled about 45 minutes to the children’s home. Everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience
Discovery Service Projects has worked in 11 Central American and Caribbean countries since 1987. International projects focus on building community centers, hurricane proof homes, churches, schools, clinics.
Volunteers pay all their travel and ground expenses (housing, meals, transportation) and DSP raises money for construction costs. Projects cost between $25,000 and $60,000.
Building skills are not needed to participate since there are many jobs on a worksite including being a mason’s helper to sewing and painting. All that is required is a willingness to serve.
Discovery always employs a local foreman and laborers who direct our work and local people often volunteer as well.
Each international project includes time spent in a local community, shared meals and worship, possible visits to homes while delivering food bags and of course, sightseeing.
